Follow Your Voice

Strong wind, earthquake-shock, and fire may pass by: but I shall follow the guiding of that still small voice which interprets the dictates of conscience. (204)

Dear Jane, I know you're battling with yourself of whether falling in love with Mr. Rochester or to just simply forget about him. I encourage you to keep doing what you conscience tells you to do. You're going through weird emotions and you don't have anyone that can talk to you. Let that small voice in your head be your friend, your guidance, and to help you out in difficult situations. Don't rely too much on what Mr. Rochester tells you, he might just be tricking you and end up getting your feelings hurt. I advise you to not take those chances with him. You don't know everything from his background and you might fall in a hole where you won't be able to get out of. Besides you've gone through a lot of stuff and the last thing you need is to have a broken heart.

  1. I agree. Mr. Rochester is Jane's first love. It isn't surprising that she will get hurt, but love will come again. The feelings that she has for Mr. Rochester are a new thing for her. Jane is a strong woman, but these new emotions are confusing since she has never experienced them. My only question is whether Jane should stay at Thornfield, or if she should leave? Will it be too hard to work at Thornfield whilst she has feelings for her boss, or can she handle it?
