Eduardo' opinion about Jane Eyre and Mr.Rochester

What do you think about Eduardo's opinion about Jane Eyre and Mr.Rochester. He says that there's no reason for her to leave Mr.Rochester. He wants them to stay together, but he doesnt understand that even if they love each other inmensly thay can't be together simply because of her reputation. Please comment.

  1. You are completely right, Alan. Love is not everlasting, especially in the case of Jane and Mr. Rochester, and there are too many obstacles them to be together peacefully.

  2. Love requires sacrifice. And yes he lied but he did it in order for himself and Jane to be happy.

  3. Hear! Hear! I agree. Eduardo is being stubborn and purposefully ignoring the fact that they are in a different time. Society is important now, but it was even more important in the past.

  4. That is right. He lied, but it wasn't a little white lie. It was a whole person that he had kept on the 3rd floor and didn't intend on telling her.

  5. I'm not intentionally ignoring the fact that society matters. And of course I realize it wasn't a little white lie, but I do think that Mr.Rochester is justified. If he divorced his wife she would be tortured in an insane asylum. He was a good person and was just trying to do what he thought was the best thing for everyone. Can't you understand that he truly does love her and that he made a mistake?
