Be Free

“Goodnight my... He stopped, bit his lip, and abruptly left me.”(184)
Jane stop letting your pride get in the way of your true happiness. Pride is nothing when it comes to love. It's obvious that Mr.Rochester has feelings for you so stop being afraid to express yourself. You need to be courageous, outspoken, and live your life without fear.
Stop holding yourself back. Fear is only in our mind in a very small corner:let your courage be your guide. What is life without risks? You can't live your life afraid to speak your inner hearts desire. What did you feel when he almost called you my love? Or are you to afraid to get hurt, that you refuse to hear such nonsense? Love is all about taking risk. You can't expect him to tell you he loves you if you can't do it for him. Have the courage to show your inner self to him. Tell him that you love him.
You have to be true to yourself and speak. Just let him know how you feel. Stop playing these little games with him. Can't you see that those games are how he is trying to tell you he loves you? You are outspoken when it comes to matters of the mind, but love doesn't come from your brain it comes from your heart. Stop over thinking this emotion. Let your love for him speak for itself. If that is what you feel say it to him. He, like you, is doubtful.
Your past experiences have shaped how you live your life. You are careful because you don't want to be hurt, and you are fearful because you do not wish to go back to the past. Can't you see that the only person that has control of you is you? If you dare not speak of love what is the point of living? We were born to live and experience not to remain slaves of our fearful past. You have to break this endless cycle. Let your fear be killed by what you feel now. If you were once afraid, it's time to let yourself be free. Free to live and experience love.

  1. I think that Jane has done her part in this; she can't do everything. In order for a relationship to work, both parties need to want to make it work. Jane has made it very clear that she has feelings for Mr. Rochester; she told him she was willing to give her life for him! He obviously isn't serious about having a relationship with Jane because he only plays games with her. Is the fact that he is getting married also overlooked in all this? Or might that be another one of his "games"? If so, then she should move on. If Mr. Rochester truly loved Jane, then he wouldn't be afraid to tell her how he feels. Even from your quote you can tell that Mr. Rochester was afraid to tell Jane how he feels, and they were alone!
