Vengeance in the Night

“'A servant has had a nightmare; that is all.'”(Mr. Rochester) (210)
“An easy-chair was near the bed-head: a man sat in it, dressed with the exception of his coat; he was still; his head leant back; his eyes were closed. Mr. Rochester held the candle over him; I recognised in his pale and seemingly lifeless face--the stranger, Mason: I saw too that his linen on one side, and one arm, was almost soaked in blood.”(Jane) (212)

Jane do you remember the night you were awaken by a scream? Mr. Rochester told everybody that a servant had a nightmare. He came up to you and asked for your help. He took you to where Mr. Mason's room where Mr. Mason was covered in blood.
Jane, you should try not to get near or close to Mr. Rochester. This means no dating. There is one reason why. He is too mysterious. He cannot be trusted because he has too many secrets at Thornfield.
Mr. Rochester seems to have too many secrets. He has a servant, Grace Poole, that threatens him and anyone that is close to him like Mr. Mason. Why would he keep a servant that threatens his life? This is one of the questions you should ask him when you get the chance.
My opinion on this is that Mr. Rochester owes something to Grace and is too proud to tell anyone what he has done to her. He might have promised her to stay at Thornfield until she can exact revenge on him.
But in the meantime, don't let your emotions get in the way, and don't tell Mr. Rochester how you feel until you receive the answer to your questions. It seems that Grace Poole is after Mr. Rochester's life and friends. If she knows how close you are to him, she might come after you.
